Being an international
kind of girl I like to tour as much as I can with my gorgeous band
and good friends - I appeared at The Edinburgh Festival with my
special friend Mr Bob Downe in our hit show "Million Sellers"!
In "Million
Sellers" Bob and I transported audiences back to their favourite
songs and memories. All the hits are there, Vespa and Downe style!
The songlist included "Lucky Stars", "Cherry Cherry/Every
Little Thing She Does Is Magic" (gorgeous medley), "Hit
Me With Your Rhythm Stick", "Tub Thumping" and many
more!
Bob and I performed
"Million Sellers" at the Edinburgh Festival in 1998 and
toured the rest of the UK in March and April 1999. Later in 1999,
for my dear Australian friends, we toured Australia!
A Brief
History of Bob & Pastel...
She and Bob Downe first met when they were working seperate cruise
ships off the Great Barrier Reef. Bob was working on the Funship
Fairstar, whose motto was "if you don't get laid, we don't
get paid", and Pastel was working on an Italian ship called
the Olivio Flora, a bit of greasy tub, and Pastel says they were
like two ships that passed in the night and one night she decided
to jump ship, "because they don't normally pass quite that
close" adds Bob.
They decided
to join forces and haven't looked back! Pastel first performed with
Bob Downe on land in Australia, as part of the Jazzy show, in Melbourne
at the Continental and the Atheneum, and in Sydney at the Lyric
(where her EP Several Shades of Pastel was recorded) and the Metro.
Jazzy went so well, Bob asked Pastel to work with him on a new show
called Million Sellers. Pastel Vespa and Bob Downe took Million
Sellers to the 1998 Edinburgh Festival, toured the UK for 2 months
in early 1999, and then the Australian National Tour. Starting at
the Sydney Opera House and finishing with a record breaking 3 weeks
at the Continental. Million Sellers was nominated for Best Show
and Best Music at the 2000 Green Room Awards - it was very exciting.
